- AVS announced the closing of $8.8 million in new funding, bringing its Series B funding round to $28.8 million. The funding will continue to support clinical trials of the company's pulsed intravascular lithotripsy (PIVL) device in peripheral settings, while also advancing preclinical research to expand indications in coronary cases. In September 2022, AVS successfully enrolled, processed and collected favorable 30-day follow-up data from patients in the first-in-human POWER PAD I clinical trial. - Shockwave Medical, Inc. announced full commercial product availability in the United States for the Shockwave L6 peripheral IVL catheter following FDA clearance. The Shockwave L6 catheter is specifically designed to correct calcification of refractory lesions in large peripheral vessels, including the common iliac and femoral arteries. Calcification of these arteries is common and is associated with decreased procedural success and increased complications with standard intravascular techniques.
