Global Gluten-Free Food Market
Gluten-free Food Market size is estimated to reach USD 23.6 Billion by the end of 2035, growing at a CAGR of 9.57% during the forecast period, i.e., 2023-2035. In the year 2022, the industry size of gluten-free food was USD 7.2 Billion. The growth of the market can be attributed to the rising preference for plant-based food. Many people prefer to eat fewer animal items in protest of the many problems in the industrial agricultural business, including animal cruelty. A plant-based diet is much healthier for the environment than a meat-and-dairy-heavy diet. The plant-based food business is expected to rise as Generation Z gains purchasing power. Currently, around 79% of Gen Z choose to be vegetarian one day each week, and nearly 65% choose a more plant-forward diet in the United States.
In addition to these, factors that are believed to fuel the market growth of gluten-free food include the growing allergies towards gluten-free food. The number of persons affected by celiac disease, wheat allergy, or gluten sensitivity has increased dramatically in recent years. According to the Researchers of the Leibniz Institute of Plant Genetics and Crop Plant Research and the Leibniz Institute for Food Systems Biology at the Technical University of Munich, around one percent of the adult population worldwide is impacted. Furthermore, non-celiac gluten sensitivity (NCGS) is becoming more prevalent in the Western world. The research has also shown that gluten concentration has stayed consistent over the last 120 years, despite minor changes in the gluten's composition. While the fraction of critically regarded gliadins decreased by around 18%, the proportion of glutenins increased by about 25%.
